Do you have an aversion to wire hangers?
Do you inexplicably shout ‘Barbara PLEASE!, PLEASE Barbara!’.
Do you know where to find the boys, AND the booze?
Do you think most people are UNDERREACTING?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then you have to attend the special Mommie Dearest Mother’s Day screening at the Music Box Theater and participate in the mass Joan catharses. Imagine sitting in a room where people don’t look at you funny when you bellow, ‘When you polish the floor, you have to move the TREE!’ This isn’t just a clip- it’s the whole damn movie and you’ll be surrounded by other Joan freaks just like you. Hell, it may not be true- but it sure is funny.
Dick O’Day and Hell in a Handbag Productions present the second in their seasonal series focusing on the best (and worst) in camp movies - Camp Midnight. Mommie Dearest, the Mt. Everest of Mother’s Day movies, kicks off with a 2:30pm pre-show hosted by Dick O’ Day featuring a Joan Crawford look-a-like contest, prize giveaways and a special performance by The Joans, the world’s first band dedicated “to giving Joan Crawford a rock-n-roll voice.” The 3pm screening (complete with interactive audience guide) immediately follows. The Camp Midnight crew has also teamed up with Violet, Chicago’s newest brunch destination, to offer an exclusive upgrade for the event. Guests can purchase V.I.M. (Very Important Mother) tickets that will include brunch beginning at 1pm at Violet (1 block north of the Music Box at 3819 N. Southport) and reserved seating at the theatre. Only 50 V.I.M. tickets are available.

Wonderful news! The Joans have been asked to appear on
Chic-A- GO-GO, Chicago’s very own dance show for kids of all ages. Needles to say we are thrilled and honored, as we love kids of all shapes and sizes. We will be doing a kid-friendly version of Mad at the Dirt. The taping is at the CAN studios. See the Chic-A-GO-GO website for more details or to attend the taping this Sunday, Feb. 17.
We are working hard to see more of our lovely fans who have written to us from across the country. We are also working on recording and getting a jazzy, hip and ‘with it’ press kit together. You know, the kids really go for that sort of thing. We have a new song, called Christina! we’ve been playing in rehearsal, and we are so excited to be playing with Bric a Brac and the amazing Jinx Titanic this April. What a lovely gentlemen he is. Check out his new music here. Stay tuned for more developments.
